THE WORK
The Peru Support Group was established in 1983 as an independent organisation without any party or political affiliation. It aims to support the people of Peru, particularly those from the poorest sectors.

We are committed to:

  • Promoting action in solidarity with the people of Peru, especially in the area of human rights
  • Encouraging links between grassroots groups
ACTIVITIES
  • Production of publications, briefings and educational material on key issues concerning Peru
  • Co-ordination of workshops, conferences and meetings
  • Working with British politicians on issues of concern in Peru such as human rights abuse and debt forgiveness
  • Provision of educational resources on Peru
WHO ARE WE

The PSG is run on a day-to-day basis by the co-ordinator Gaby Drinkwater.

The management committee is elected annually from among nominated PSG members at the annual general meeting, usually held the same day as our annual conference.

Lord Avebury, long standing advocate for human rights, founder of the Parliamentary Human Rights Group, member of the Liberal Democrat Foreign Affairs team, was elected as President of the Peru Support Group in 2002.
